THE SCHEDULE

8:30 – 9:00 AM: Icebreaker & Networking

We will kick things off by exploring the question, ‘What type of athlete embodies the pinnacle of athleticism?’ followed by a shared reflection on ‘Who are your top three athletes of all time, and why?’ This isn’t just an icebreaker; it’s an opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and set the stage for a collaborative learning environment.

We’ll jump into the core principles of Athletic Performance Therapy, understanding its critical role in optimizing athlete potential. Following this, we’ll transition to a practical Overhead Squat (OH) Lab. This session will provide you with firsthand experience and refined techniques, ensuring you can immediately apply these skills in your practice

What truly sets sports medicine apart? We’ll explore the athlete’s mindset, the crucial role of the multidisciplinary sports medicine team, and the art of effective communication and coaching. We’ll also discuss the essential traits, qualities, and certifications that define a successful sports medicine professional, providing you with valuable career insights.

We’ll examine the nuanced differences between sports medicine and general orthopedic evaluations. To solidify these concepts, we’ll conduct a live evaluation and case analysis. This interactive session will demonstrate the application of sports-specific evaluation techniques in a real-world scenario, enhancing your diagnostic skills.

Our final session will be a hands-on Therapeutic Exercise (Ther-Ex) Lab, designed to elevate your proficiency in therapeutic interventions. We’ll cover pillar application, emphasize the importance of clear, concise instructions, explore the use of biofeedback, and demonstrate how Ther-Ex serves as an assessment tool. We’ll also focus on determining appropriate dosage, mapping out progression roadmaps, and establishing effective discharge criteria, ensuring you leave with actionable strategies.
