The staff at Architech Sports and Physical Therapy has, for years, taken care of professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, Professional Soccer, the regions premier Universities and Colleges, and other professional associations. In 1998, the staff began to broaden its services to area middle school and high school athletes to assist in their training efforts. The Architech Sports and Physical Therapy staff quickly became recognized as "the staff" to come to when athletes wanted to be trained. Alicia Tyson - Director of Physical Therapy

Alicia Tyson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992. During her career she has managed several physical therapy offices within Carolinas HealthCare System.  In those roles she helped establish clinical competencies for her PT and administrative staff and worked closely with numerous physicians on patient care issues.  She has gained valuable experience in a wide variety of settings throughout her career but found her niche in orthopedics very early and was often the “go-to” PT in the Pineville area.  Her experience in hospital settings as well as outpatient rehabilitation gives Alicia a well-rounded view of the orthopedic patient’s needs.  Alicia is wife to Alan and they both are proud parents of Zack (19) and Kaleb (16).  Alicia took dance for over 15 years and was on a competition dance team for several of those years.  In her spare time she continues her interest in dance and fitness.  On Sunday’s you can catch Alicia singing on the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Praise Team.

Alan Tyson - Director of Performance

Alan Tyson is the President Architech Sports and Physical Therapy.  He was the former Vice President of Sports Performance and Rehabilitation for OrthoCarolina.  He is a physical therapist board certified as a sports clinical specialist, a certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist.  He has worked with the Charlotte Knights (AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox) and continues to serve as a consultant to the team.  Alan is also a consultant with the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Eagles.  Alan has spoken regionally and nationally on various training topics including the foot and ankle, spine care, hip and knee rehabilitation, and he has developed two continuing education courses on the shoulder.  He has written 3 books and developed specific training programs for the female athlete,the baseball pitcher, and for football players preparing for the NFL combines.  Alan is also an associate editor of the National Strength and Conditioning Journal.  He co-hosted a weekly radio show “Health Headlines” on 1110AM WBT with Stacey Sims and Dr. Russ Greenfield for 3 years.

Jason Husn - Operations Manager

Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine and Health Science from Guilford College in 2004 and earned his Masters of Healthcare Administration from Pfeiffer University in 2012. While at Guilford, he was a student Athletic Trainer for the football, baseball and women's basketball teams. After graduation, Jason would obtain his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and his United States Weightlifting club coach (USAW) certifications.

He has held internships at Duke University working with Football and Baseball, and at the Carolina Panthers. He was also a member of the Panthers Strength and Conditioning Staff for 2 years after his internship. Jason is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He also obtained his CrossFit Level 1 Coaching Certification in 2012.

Jason's passion for athletics and strength and conditioning started while playing high school sports. He was an offensive lineman for the Conference Champion Northern Durham Knights football team in Durham, NC and played basketball for his local church. As a coach, Jason strives to be a role model and servant leader to his clients. He does not just focus on improvement in athletics but also on improvement in life as well.

When Jason is not with his work family, he enjoys being with his wife and 2 daughters, playing golf with buddies, building furniture with his daughter or working out in his garage gym.

Mark Badenhop - Physical Therapist

Mark received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2010 from Ohio University in Athens, OH and his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2007 from the University of Dayton in Ohio. During the past few years at Architech Sports and Physical Therapy he has continued to strengthen his knowledge and skills set by becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2014, earning his certification in Dry Needling in 2015, and becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2016.  Mark utilizes his orthopedic knowledge in conjunction with video analysis to provide high-end functional training for his clients. He promotes an active lifestyle and believes in what his father, Dr. Dalynn Badenhop, Exercise Physiologist at University of Toledo, has always taught him: ‘Exercise is Medicine’.

While at the University of Dayton he played catcher and outfield on the club baseball team all four years. Mark provides support and consults with his brother, Burke Badenhop, who pitched for multiple MLB teams including the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife biking, hiking, and traveling.

Jessica Adamczak- Physical Therapist & Athletic Trainer

Jessica earned her doctorate of physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012.  Prior to that, she completed her bachelor of science in kinesiology and athletic training from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  At the University of Illinois, Jessica was able to work and travel with football, women’s soccer, track and field and men’s & women’s tennis.  After college, Jessica worked as a certified athletic trainer in the Chicago-area covering a range of sports from little league baseball to semi-professional lacrosse.  

Jessica is originally from the Chicago-area where she grew up playing competitive soccer.  In her free-time Jessica likes to exploring Charlotte and going hiking and playing with her dog.

Jessica is excited to join our Architech Sports team and expand our Female Athlete Wellness program!

Chandler Thomas - Physical Therapist

Chandler joins ASPT after graduating with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina . Prior to attending MUSC, Chandler received his Exercise and Sport Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , where he was a four-year member of the varsity swim team. It was at UNC that he discovered his passion for the human body, particularly as it relates to sports performance, injury prevention, and rehab. Chandler has always been an active member of the swimming community in Charlotte, graduating from South Mecklenburg High School as a 2-time state champion breaststroker. He grew up swimming at SwimMAC, where he also worked for two years as an age group and Masters swim coach after graduating from UNC. As a coach, Chandler strongly emphasized the importance of proper stroke technique to improve speed and efficiency in the water as well as prevent overuse injuries. Throughout his clinical education and brief time as a traveling therapist, Chandler was able to use the analytical and motivational skills he gained through coaching to treat clients with a wide array of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments.

When he is not working or training for his next Masters swim meet, Chandler enjoys spending time with his fiancé and family, playing guitar, playing sports with friends, and cheering for his Tar Heels and Carolina Panthers.

Thomas Halloran - Athletic Trainer

Thomas joined Architech Sports and Physical Therapy in May of 2017 after earning a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology at East Carolina University. While working on his undergrad degree of Athletic Training at ECU, Thomas worked with each division 1 sport. His passion for the rehabilitation side of Athletic Training drove his decision to continue his education and to strengthen his knowledge of the effect of exercise on the human body.
Thomas is a Charlotte native from the Ballantyne/Blakeney area and graduated from Ardrey Kell High School.
Outside of the clinic, Thomas spends his time training as a competitive CrossFitter and Olympic Weightlifter on the national level. He is an avid fan of football (New England Patriots, Go Pats!), swimming, and hockey.

Candace Myers - Athletic Trainer

Candace Myers joined Architech Sports & Physical Therapy in 2014 after spending three years as the certified athletic trainer at Parkwood High School. While at Parkwood, Candace was responsible for all practice and game coverage as well as rehabilitation programs that were needed for each athlete.

Candace earned her Master’s degree in rehabilitation science in 2011 from Bridgewater State University in Boston. Prior to that, she spent one year at the University of Hawaii where she was responsible for the football and women’s basketball programs. Candace earned her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Charleston Southern University in 2007. While at Charleston Southern, Candace played left field for the Buccaneer softball program.

Candace is a Union County native where she grew up playing competitive basketball and softball at Weddington High School. In her free time Candace enjoys spending time with her daughter, Riley,and working out
